The exhibition is about Opałka’s art before OPAŁKA and shows
the artist’s less-known, introspective first plastic and conceptual
works. Opałka’s interest in avantgarde experimentations
anticipates the choice he made in 1965 to fully dedicate himself
to his project on time, which he worked on until he died. The
early paintings, from 1958 to 1965, represent movement by
use of superimposition and give structure to the sounds of a
fugue. The connection with 1965 is celebrated with the partial
reconstruction of the Bois Mauclair atelier.
