Nowadays, the effective communication of scientific and environmental topics is of great importance, especially as far as climate change is concerned. Massimiano Bucchi is Professor of the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Trento. He will draw upon the data provided by recent interdisciplinary surveys in order to explain the trends in Italian public opinion about environment and energy related issues, including science and technology.
Maria Inglisa is a scientific journalist and Professor at the University of Pavia. Thanks to a study carried out in collaboration with Osservatorio di Pavia, she will explain what citizens really get to know about climate change. The mass media are certainly the framework of reference, as instead of simply transferring information, most of the time they tend to create a perceived representation of the news. Her research aims at clarifying to what extent the main Italian newspapers and TV news provide information and how much they intend to impress the public.
