Richard Owen will present Reporting Italy through British Eyes: Reflections on fifteen

years as Times correspondent in Rome, from John Paul II to Benedict XVI, from Prodi

to Berlusconi.

Dr Owen joined The Times in 1980 as an editorialist. Subsequently posted to such capital

cities as Moscow, Brussels and Jerusalem he was appointed correspondent for Rome in

1995. Recently retired, his final assignment saw him flying with Pope Benedict to the

UK for a four-day visit. He continues to write and lecture and recently chaired a session

of the Nobel Peace Prize Winners summit in Hiroshima.
