New York Memories. Art and Activism: a tribute to ACT UP

On the occasion of World AIDS Day on December 1st, Venice was invaded by 10,000 stickers and 150 posters depicting the image of two yellow gloves.

Yellow Gloves is the first step within a project entitled New York Memories, that aims to celebrate the history of ACT UP, a collective of activists and gay artists formed in 1987 in response to the AIDS crisis. New York Memories is conceived by Tommaso Speretta, Andrea Goffo and Claudia Zini and realized thanks to the support of Fondazione Claudio Buziol in Venice. The graphic design is by Elena Xausa.

A short exhibition took place in Cà Zanardi (Cannaregio 4133) on December 1st, from 8 pm.
